N1  - This is the original, incomplete version released in 1973. Not only does the old preface and introduction presented here contain different information than that in the completed and updated newer version and not only do the notes of this older printing use different wording, but the older notes even have some descriptions not detailed in the newer version (though the newer version mostly incorporates them). To take one example, in note 26 on pilgrimage, there is information not contained in the notes of the new edition. There are also links from within the synopsis leading to the notes, thereby indicating in some cases more clearly what synopsis item pertains to which paragraph.
