Canadian senator/ex-UN general speaks out for Baha'is

Postby brettz9 » Fri Sep 29, 2006 10:28 am

An important voice of conscience: http://www.bahaiworldnews.org/story.cfm?storyid=481

If you watch world news closely (or have seen the film Hotel Rwanda), you may know this honorable gentleman who is thankfully speaking out for the Baha'is in Iran amidst what I'd say has so far been a fairly thunderous silence in the media on the ominous signs going on in Iran. God bless him.

Great news story! Thanks for sharing Brett.

I didn't know about this:

"General Dallaire also expressed concern over a government-sponsored media campaign against Baha'is in Iran."

Do you know what these are specifically? Like television ads, radio, etc.?

Hi BW,

Yeah, we need that support. Strangely, if the Baha'is were actually retaliating (God forbid), the modern-day Western media might otherwise be paying attention. 'Violence sells' I guess (actually, I think it is also or rather a genuine interest by the reporter conveyed well to the reader/viewer that sells (Ted Koppel didn't do too bad commerically in getting an audience by covering important underaddressed topics, for example.). I suppose that is why we need to pray for difficulties (love, unity, bridge building, etc. just doesn't draw attention amidst what has been called the 7 o'clock killin's or modern-day news coverage)

Here's a description of the heinous campaign:
