Requesting Baha'u'llah's Mathvani

Postby misagh » Tue May 18, 2004 12:27 pm

Allah'u'Abha!

I'm wondering if someone has the Persian text of Baha'u'llah's "Mathnavi", preferrably in a non-caligriphied format... but of course, begger's can't be choosers.

If you have it, can you please e-mail me at misaghziaei at hotmail dot com?

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

What do you mean by "Mathnavi"...like that of Maulana Jalal-ud-Din Roomi? If yes did really Bahaullah write the "Mathnavi"? or this term is something different from the one I understand from this post?

Ahsan

Doing a search of the site, I see some mention of it, for example:

http://bahai-library.com/bsr/bsr09/9B4_ ... thnavi.htm
http://bahai-library.com/resources/1863-68.html

So this was not a claim to Baha'u'llah having written the Mathnavi.

best wishes,
Brett

info given on one link you provided is

Not to be confused with the abbreviated title "Mathnavi" both used in non-Baha'i books and often quoted by the Central Figures, which usually refers to Rumi's Mathnavi

check the screenshot

Hi Ahsan,

You asked originally

What do you mean by "Mathnavi"...like that of Maulana Jalal-ud-Din Roomi? If yes did really Bahaullah write the "Mathnavi"?

I understood that you were asking whether Baha'is believed that Baha'u'llah had written Rumi's Mathnavi (as perhaps by inspiration, etc), and I was saying no to that. But He did write His own "Mathnavi". The info from the screenshot is correct: the Baha'i Writings quote sometimes from Rumi's Mathnavi (as in Baha'u'llah's Tablet to a mystic), but there is an actual work of Baha'u'llah which is also called "Mathnavi".

best wishes,
Brett

Brett,

You wrote:

Yeah my main question was that did Bahaullah also write a book on poetry and named it Mathnavi...I was confused on the term "Mathnavi"...you made that clear. Thanks.

Ahsan

Yes, Baha'u'llah did write a (slim) book called the Mathnavi. You can get it in a Word format from

http://reference.bahai.org/fa/t/b/

Go to item 16, Atha-e Qalam-`ala volume 3, download the word file and search on mathnavi
