Seeking quotations on the Faith from non-Baha'i sources

Postby Jonah-admin » Thu Mar 05, 2015 5:34 pm

Hi, I've received the following question and don't know what to suggest:

I have been asked by a Publishing Trust to assist in a project designed to increase the presence of the Faith on the internet in Asia. The help they most need at the moment is to find as many references to the Faith by famous and respected non-Baha'i sources, as this makes entries more acceptable to eastern cultures who decide whether or not material is acceptable. For example, a beginning subject, just for experimentation, I've been asked to find as many non-Baha'i references to "The Promulgation of Universal Peace" and 'Abdu'l-Baha as possible. Eventually, when as many such sources are found, entire pages will be written up, much like wikipedia pages (as an author I guess that's what they most want me for). But I have no experience in research, except what any normal person does looking for this or that on the internet.

My question is, do you happen to know of any sites online that specialize in quotations from non-Baha'is about the Faith and different aspects or publications of the Faith? Is there any advice you could give me.

While this won't help with the Promulgation of Universal Peace issue, some older public appreciations are in http://bahai-library.com/appreciations_bahai_faith . Some other ones (including more modern ones) are included within https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=re449tESxMM . And while not directly relevant to your question, you may find http://bahai-library.com/compilation_te ... ent_people of interest.

1900, Persia by a Persian, Rev. Isaac Adams, M.D.pg. 453 begins a long bit on the Bab and Babism. For the most part he is respectful of the Faith and most of what he has to say we would agree with BUT he is clearly a Christian missionary type and makes some glaring errors. Still, he teats the Baha'is much kinder than the Kurdish people! Well worth looking at. You can find it here:

and of course there is Edward Granville Browne and Margit Warburg. I am sure you can find many more at George Ronald, Publisher. They have published many works about the Faith by non-Bahá'is.
