Re: Wish list for authoritative Baha'i books online?

i doubt that you're going to find much for authoritative materials that are not already on-line. i would like to see an effort to get 'older' scholarly materials and privately published memoirs. Neither of these categories are likely to be selling worth beans and there is some evidence that free ete...

Re: About 12th Imam

Tnx Larry, that was what I was thinking about. But it is not universally accepted because there are other statements that appear to indicate that he did have a corporeal existance.

Re: About 12th Imam

I think the "362" is a typo/misprint.

There are differences of opinion by scholars as to whether the 12 Imam had a physical existance according to the statements of Abdu'l-Baha.

He was speaking of the lands of the Vilayet of Adrianople. I don't know how vilayet should be translated, so I'll call it a state. It was what we would now call European Turkey plus parts of present day Greece and Bulgaria. It in turn was made up of what I'll call "counties". Gallipoli was...

Re: The world of being

This is interesting because in many cases, the Muslims simply used the Greek terms in translation. But in this instance, they quickly developed an alternative cosmology using different terms. What the Greeks called World of Being, the Muslims call Lahut, the world of ideas, a spiritual world. This i...

Re: Ocean for Macs

A version of Ocean is now available for Macs, tho' I think it leaves a lot to be desired. E.g., all texts are embeded and there's no way to add add'l material. It was simply converted using Pine and includes an embedded version of NotePad. Archive does run on OSX Lion. BTW, you can copy unlocked pdf...

I would but they don't make Ocean Library for macs yet :) I'll try digging them up in the meantime though. A good selection of the primary texts are available on Archive for OSX. Additionally, those texts in Ocean that are in its proprietary format (w/ suffix ocn1 on Macs), the works of Taherzadeh ...

Does anyone know if `Abdu'l-Baha ever engaged in a public debate with anyone during his trips to Europe and the United States? I've never heard of any such event taking place but it would be really interesting to follow a sort of "real-time" debate between him and anyone else. :D I think ...

I heard a rumor that Gibson actually dissociated himself from the Mona's Dream project when he learned that Mona's religious beliefs were at the core of her courage. Can anyone confirm this? We don't really know. There is circumstantial evidence that supports such an idea. Gibson was part of a conf...

Re: Healing Prayer

Thanks, That prayer was not translated into English until 1980, so that makes me think that it might be another prayer, because why wouldn't Shoghi Effendi translate that one for the English speaking friends? Yes but it was readily available in typescript. I had both it and the Fire Tablet that way...

Curious about your thoughts on this topic. I personally still don't believe he ever left a Will and that this was probably just a slip-up, but it's always good to have discussions and deepend our understanding of the Faith. :) The Dispensation of Baha'u'llah was a letter addressed to the Western Ba...

Re: UHJ mentioned in KitabAdqdas (quote = for cov.breakers)

Remey, being in his late eighties after Shoghi Effendi died, was probably senile and interpreted that title given to him by `Abdu'l-Baha to mean that he really was of `Abdu'l-Baha's lineage now. There is no evidence I have heard of that Remey was senile, at least not in the late 50's/early 60's. By...
