Can anyone tell me why Baha'i marriage is limited to being between a man and a woman? Why can't two men or two women marry?

I have looked into the purposes of marriage and they appear to come under the following headings (please tell me if I have missed any):

1.) Spiritual growth
2.) Producing children to make mention of God and carry on the species.

If this is so there are clearly couples who cannot fulfil Point 2, as they might be sterile or unable to have children.

Why then are homosexuals not allowed to marry, since they also cannot have children, but can aid in each other's spiritual growth?

Hope some people can shed some light on this for me,
