Race unity rally
The Baha'i Community of Athens-Clarke County will host
a "Power of Race Unity" reception recognizing Athens-Clarke community
leaders at 6:30 p.m. today in the reception hall at Tate Student Center
on the University of Georgia campus. The reception will include a
speaker, music and dance performances, and refreshments. For more

Joy Baptist Church
HULL - Joy Baptist Church, 1135 Glenn Carrie Road,
will start a Sunday evening summer concert series at 6 p.m. Sunday with
Ernie Haase of the Cathedral Quartet. Becky Gay, a recent contestant on
the WMSL Babby Mason contest will be featured July 12, and the 1997
Mason contest winner, Sheila Parnell, will be featured Aug. 9. All
concerts are free and open to the public; a love offering will be taken
at each.
Prince Ave. Baptist
Prince Avenue Baptist Church, 595 Prince Ave., is
enrolling a group to attend an Institute of Basic Life Principals
seminar with Bill Gothard on July 20-25 at the Gwinnett County Civic
Center. June 10 is the deadline to register for group rates; for

The seminar will cover topics such as breaking bad
habits; restoring marriages; dealing with guilt; resolving anger,
bitterness, fear and feelings of inferiority; conflicts with parents;
keys to success; gaining true friendships; happiness and financial
freedom.
Prince Avenue Baptist will host a vacation Bible
school, "StarQuest, A Galactic Good News Adventure," from 8:30 a.m. to
noon Monday through Friday for children from ages 3 through rising

The church will host a men's and father-and-son
cookout at 2-6 p.m. June 20 at Sandy Creek Park, pavilion 2. The cost is
$5 for adults and $2.50 for children ages 10 and under. Activities will
include horseshoes, swimming, fishing, tennis, basketball and a
father-son softball tournament. Tickets are available at the information
center in the church atrium starting Sunday.
There will be a Legacy Builders men's rally after the
evening service June 21 in the Youth Room. It will feature a cake-baking
contest and fellowship. The guest preacher will be Darrell Robinson,
special assistant to the vice president for evangelization of the North
American Mission Board.

HULL - Joy Baptist Church, Glenn Carrie Road, will
host a "Hooked on Jesus" vacation Bible school from 6:45-9 p.m. Monday
through Friday featuring puppets, adventure stories and crafts. For more

Gateway United Methodist Church, 349 Jefferson River
Road, will host a vacation Bible school, "Aloha! From the Son Light
Island," from 9 a.m. to noon June 22-26 for children from ages 3-12.

a baptism and confirmation service Sunday with the Right Rev. Frank K.
Allan, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta. There will be a
reception after the 10:30 a.m. service to greet Allan and the
confirmands.
New Dorsey Baptist
New Dorsey Baptist Church will host revival services
at 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The guest speaker will be the Rev.
Clarence Moore, pastor of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Augusta.
First Christian Church
First Christian Church, 268 W. Dougherty St., will
host a vacation Bible school from 6-8 p.m. June 22-26. For more

St. Mary's Baptist Church, 1850 Danielsville Road,
will host a "Give Back to the Community" rally from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
today at the church. The rally is free and open to the public, and will
feature free clothing, toys, food and more for those in need.
