Iran denies hanging Bahai

Iran has denied reports that it executed a member of the Bahai faith earlier this week for converting a Muslim.

Iranian television quoted the head of the revolutionary court in Tehran, Gholam Rahbarpur as saying that the reports that the man -- Ruhollah Rowhani -- had been hanged were false and that no such sentence had been passed by any Iranian court.

The denial follows condemnation of the reported execution by the United States and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
