Dear Friends,

Allah'u'Abha!

In the document "Who Is Writing the Future? Reflections on the Twentieth Century" a phrase was found that inspired this reader to become a writer and to document personal reflections on the subject of "a single world currency operating largely through electronic impulses" ... the complete passage, which gives tremendous hope for the "decades immediately ahead", reads

"Such advances in science and technology were reciprocal in their effects. Grains of sand--the most humble and ostensibly worthless of materials--metamorphosed into silicon wafers and optically pure glass, making possible the creation of worldwide communications networks. This, together with the deployment of ever more sophisticated satellite systems, has begun providing access to the accumulated knowledge of the entire human race for people everywhere, without distinction. It is apparent that the decades immediately ahead will see the integration of telephone, television, and computer technologies into a single, unified system of communication and information, whose inexpensive appliances will be available on a mass scale. It would be difficult to exaggerate the psychological and social impact of the anticipated replacement of the jumble of existing monetary systems--for many, the ultimate fortress of nationalist pride--by a single world currency operating largely through electronic impulses."

http://www.bahai.org/article-1-7-3-1.html

the above mentioned article actually concludes with this passage

"However great the turmoil, the period into which humanity is moving will open to every individual, every institution, and every community on earth unprecedented opportunities to participate in the writing of the planet's future. "Soon", is Bahá'u'lláh's confident promise, "will the present-day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead."

sooooo .... I figure I might as well write .... write what I am feeling & thinking ... and maybe a few people along the way may join me in documenting for His sake our experiences with money ... ....

speaking of money ... here is an interesting video that documents some aspects of how the united states dollar was created {emphasize on modern times and the federal reserve} ... actually it is a two part video ...

the world's monetary gold supply

Shoghi Effendi, my true brother, penned the phrase "the world's monetary gold supply" in The World Order of Bahá'u'lláh, by Shoghi Effendi, p. 35:

http://www.ibiblio.org/bahai-bin/refere ... ob&page=35

the full phrase, passage, and paragraph, though a bit long does desrve full mention here for it mat help various people to shun any future attempts at global war ....

"That the unrest and suffering afflicting the mass of mankind are in no small measure the direct consequences of the World War and are attributable to the unwisdom and shortsightedness of the framers of the Peace Treaties only a biased mind can refuse to admit. That the financial obligations contracted in the course of the war, as well as the imposition of a staggering burden of reparations upon the vanquished, have, to a very great extent, been responsible for the maldistribution and consequent shortage of the world's monetary gold supply, which in turn has, to a very great measure, accentuated the phenomenal fall in prices and thereby relentlessly increased the burdens of impoverished countries, no impartial mind would question. That inter-governmental debts have imposed a severe strain on the masses of the people in Europe, have upset the equilibrium of national budgets, have crippled national industries, and led to an increase in the number of the unemployed, is no less apparent to an unprejudiced observer. That the spirit of vindictiveness, of suspicion, of fear and rivalry, engendered by the war, and which the provisions of the Peace Treaties have served to perpetuate and foster, has led to an enormous increase of national competitive armaments, involving during the last year the aggregate expenditure of no less than a thousand million pounds, which in turn has accentuated the effects of the world-wide depression, is a truth that even the most superficial observer will readily admit. That a narrow and brutal nationalism, which the post-war theory of self-determination has served to reinforce, has been chiefly responsible for the policy of high and prohibitive tariffs, so injurious to the healthy flow of international trade and to the mechanism of international finance, is a fact which few would venture to dispute."

Nelson Hultberg had this to say on December 19, 2005
http://www.financialsense.com/editorial ... /1219.html

"How much gold and silver is enough," inquired one of my readers the other day? "How much do we need to protect ourselves?" My reply was that five and ten percent of one's portfolio seem to be way too low if things are really as bad as the analysts make out. If they really believe that the dollar is going to crash big time, then why would any analyst advocate only 5%-10% of one's wealth in gold and silver? This is one of those mystifying irrationalities that circulates among the "experts" without any justification.

Let's face it; America is caught up in what Bill Bonner has appropriately termed an "Empire of Debt." Things are not going to improve. They are going to get worse, much worse before any meaningful reform of the system will be salable to the people. It's kind of like trying to get a mule's attention; you have to practically whack it up side the head with a two-by-four before you get a response. The people are like mules, and they are led by charlatans on Wall Street and in Washington. So we can expect the world's currencies to be debased quite severely over the next 20 years. Bernanke will have to inflate or die.

Thus a 5%-10% portion of one's portfolio in precious metals seems like nothing but a pittance, terribly inadequate for the future that is staring us in the face. Analysts that recommend such a minimal percentage are not serving their readers very well in this writer's opinion. As to what percentage one should actually hold, this, of course, would vary according to the person's temperament. But it should certainly be far greater than the miniscule amounts conventionally recommended.

There is another irrationality that inexplicably circulates also. It warns about ...

WASHINGTON, DC, United States (UPI) -- Congress has approved a redesign of the penny to celebrate Abraham Lincoln`s 200th birthday in 2009.

The new penny will feature four new designs on the back of the current coin, each representing a different phase of the 16th U.S. president`s life, Copley News Service said.

The designs will depict Lincoln`s birth and childhood in Kentucky, his youth in Indiana, his professional life in Illinois and his presidency in Washington. The present image of Lincoln will remain on the front of the coin.

The treasury secretary will choose the four designs after consulting with ...

Total Eligible 50746881

.... so if I am reading the data right about 51000 {fiftyone thousand} one thousand oz bars are up for grabs ....

.... as a side note I think tradtionally speaking the Islamic nations had silver coins that measured about 3 grams ???? ... ... ... so .... again if i did my math right ??? .... (1000 0zs * 31)/3 = 10333 coins

each 1000 oz bar could produce approx 10k coins of 3 grams each

and then if you take 10k * 51000 then we have only 510 thousand coins ...

I don't know maybe my #'s are wrong ... anybody care to elaborate on my rough estimates ?? ... 510 thousand coins seem rather small I must have did my math wrong ....

...........................................................................................................

3 grams is correct
traditionally speaking in terms of Islam and measurements of silver

"The Islamic Dinar and Dirham, mentioned in the Holy Quran, unlike paper
currencies that are government debts, are backed by itself, that is, by
its own gold content. It is not a promise of payment but is the real
payment itself," said Dr Obaid Saqer Busit, director general of ports
and customs. "The coins are being minted by the London-based Islamic
Mint in four denominations of one and two dinar in gold and one and five
dirham in silver and are of the traditional weights and measures that
existed in the Umar ibn Al Khattab era. The 23 mm-diameter one dinar
contains 4.3 grams of 22 carat gold of 91.7 per cent purity. The 26
mm-diameter two dinar has 8.6 grams of 22 carat gold. Both 25
mm-diameter one dirham and 27 mm-diameter five dirham coins hold three and 15 grams of pure silver respectively, equal to 999 percent purity."

ok ... here is where I did part of my math wrong

and then if you take 10k * 51000 then we have only 510 thousand coins ...

actually
51000 X 10000 = 510,000,000

so maybe 510m coins of 3 grams

so every american {255m people} can have 6 grams of silver ???

I fervantly disagree with the statement

"In a deflationary depression situation, demand for any item cavitates towards virtually zero. Doesn't matter if it is coffee or copper."

I think the records would indicate that those who had copper coins did very well in times of deflationary depression. {after all just look at morgan/chase & all those copper coins they had in the banks} ....

In fact my sentiments for copper coins are running so high today I am thinking of purposing no silver and/or gold coins in the local united faith heritage banks ... the idea being that silver/gold is so valuable that even honest people would be tempted to rob the bank ... so no need to tempt anyone and/or assume the risk & liablity of owning/storing silver/gold .... yes yes yes silver & gold are the real sound monetary units and plenty of individuals can set up those types of banks ... but in an all out systemtic crash all I want to do is offer some form of hope to the straving masses ... so why not just play for pennies .... and on occassion trade up for some nice adornments ...

personal experience with pennies

Penny collecting is an interesting hobby.
I enjoy it.
Got interested in it when I realized that the current usa banks are the easiest copper mines that anybody could ever hope to find.

Basically go to any bank and trade in the frns for the pennies. ... I like the pennies that are hand rolled from individuals with paper wraps ... easier to open and sometimes find some nice wheats .... I also get a "brinks" box of pennies sometimes ... they have pennies wrapped in plastic weighs about 8 lbs and come in a cardboard box and costs $25 frns for $25 in pennies ... the brinks boxes are ok but the plastic wraps are a pain to open {but surprise surprise sometimes the plastic wraps will have a dime in it -- not gonna get rich but it is still exciting to make a small find};however, anothere small drawback to the brinks box is ... you will never get any mint/new bank wrapped rolls ... ... ...

I like looking at the brinks box as

a bar of gold ...

all ready chopped up into a few grams and ready to distribute at my whim ...

In an all out systemic usd crash ... people will still need each other ... trade/commerce/economic developments .... one thing I am working on is preparing people to help build local united faith heritage banks ... silver & gold is so rare and precious that it may be best to leave those things out of local banks {maybe use upon regional levels?} and instead concentrate on zinc/copper/nickel as forms for monetary trade {{well if you really want to see where I think local banks could head is take the first day of issue covers/stamps/envelopes and create monetary notes and personalized saving deposit accounts on them -- you know write stuff on the outside of enevelopes///fdcs would be really hard to counterfiet --- also create a tax off these new currency// monthly -- new fed chief is thinking about doing the tax thing on the usd .... but ok enough about local banks in a systemic usd crash scenario and back to the pennies }}

... so pennies are pennies are pennies ... no harm in collecting em ... some say you may get a better return on silver ... maybe so, but I do urge all my readers to carry at least $25 in pennies just so they do not have to use silver in small trades ... I personally am carrying $200 in usd copper pennies and about $50 in zincs ... I think I am considering even adding more to my stash ... ... ...

sorting the pennies can be a pain ... it is easy to sort pre 82 and post 82 ... brighty shiny ones just get tossed aside ... and then the darker ones look at the dates ... see ponce pick ... but I get bogged down on some of the smaller detail ... I put all 82s in a seperate pile ... all 96s into a seperate pile {my daughters birthday} ... all 05s in a seperate pile {my sons birthday} ... all wheats in a sperate pile {worth a minimuim of 2 cents each} ... ... ... ... .... so like I said I get bogged down on some of the smaller detail .... ... ... .... ...

also

there is a huge issue of re rolling the pennies ... what a pain ... I got a small coin sorter but still what a pain .... and the machines where I live at charge about 9% interest to count my coins {thanks but no thanks} ... although I hear in the north east a lot of banks will count your change for free ... so take a pile of zincs to them and let the machines do what they are supposed to do for free ... ... ...

also

there is an issue of taking the re rolled coins back to the bank .... what a pain ... lugging in 8 lbs 16 lbs ... waiting in line ... havin the bank teller take and count roll after roll after roll of pennies ... some banks require you to write your acct number on every single roll ... mine doesn't but some do ... what a pain ... ... ... ... .... but if you get good at it it goes by pretty fast and sometimes you can flirt with a bank teller and sometimes you can briefly discuss copper/silver/gold with some of the tellers ... ... ... you would be surprised about how many easy silver hunters there are in this world ... ... ... ... but you the readers of my notes know that the copper coins may also contain some real value on day ... ... ...

the biggest draw back to the penny sorting/hoarding is

no way to get the copper out ... that is to say that currently there are refinaries that will melt the usd silver coins but no refinary that I know of has begun to melt the usd copper pennies ... so no way to cash out the pennies for their metal content{which is worth more than the penny} .... ....... ..... so either you got find/make/develop a refinary {{one issue is how to verify that the pennies going in are copper(metal detector may be answer???)} ..... ... or ..... you just gotta sit on the pennies ... ... personally I think it is worth sitting on the pennies but that is just mho .... .... .... ...

I like looking at my brinks boxes and inside knowing there are copper tokens
all chopped up and minted and hand rolled by yours truly
like little bricks of gold I say
like little bricks of gold http://www.begedivri.com/shekel/ShekelPics/update02.jpg

it is also interesting to note that
a nickel is a nickel is a nickel

that is to say a usa nickel is made of the metal nickel
and with the metal nickel going for Nickel $5.9089/lb
a usa nickel is worth .033 cents in metal content1946-2005 Nickel $0.05 $0.0335056

http://www.coinflation.com

so a nickel stands a good chance of rolling over into transitional currency
and with no sorting {like you gotta to do with pennies}

so saving/hoarding nickels may imho be more time/cost/weight effective than the pennies .... ... ... but I will stick with the pennies and on occasion buy a few rolls of nickels ...

The idea of using your mobile phone to pay for things isn't new, but most people have yet to experience m-commerce in any sort of meaningful way (partly due to the overwhelming complexity of current systems). That's set to change with every mobile provider--not to mention big financiers like Visa--rushing to make mobile payments a success (although there have been some failures lately too, like Simpay). M-commerce is the essential ingredient for taking the web mobile.

Forgetting computer passwords is an everyday source of frustration, but a solution may literally be at hand - in the form of computer chip implants. With a wave of his hand, Amal Graafstra, a 29-year-old entrepreneur based in Vancouver, Canada, opens his front door. With another, he logs onto his computer.

Tiny radio frequency identification (RFID) computer chips inserted into Mr Graafstra's hands make it all possible.

New York --- Winter is usually the slow season at Gotham Dream Cars, the time when luxurious Bentleys and 400-horsepower Ferraris sit idle.

Not this year. Rentals of "ultra-high-end" exotic cars are roaring, thanks to mild weather and Wall Street's record-setting 2005 bonuses, said Noah Lehmann-Haupt, president of the Manhattan company.

Those bonuses are expected to fill the pockets of financial workers with $21.5 billion and set off a wave of spending on everything from real estate to jewelry.

The most popular Gotham car rental is the $195,000 Lamborghini Gallardo at a discounted winter rate of $1,350 for a day or $4,450 for week.

Shine On – Part II: SEC Proposes Rules for Silver ETF Trading
by Charles Mackay, Tuesday January 24 2006

It’s coming. Despite roadblocks put up by the Silver Users Association, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in conjunction with the American Stock Exchange, has proposed new rules that will guide the trading of the upcoming silver exchange traded fund (ETF).

Let’s be clear – the proposed rule from the SEC governing trading of the silver ETF (Rule Change Relating to the Listing and Trading of Shares of the iShares® Silver Trust) should not be confused with the pending registration of iShares Silver Trust (SLV) shares with the SEC. These are separate matters. However the SEC action indicates the very clear intention of the SEC and AMEX to prepare for the eventual trading of the silver ETF. The proposed rule will take at least until February 7, 2006 to be approved, and possibly, it could be subject to further delays and/or changes.

The Silver Users Association (SUA) fears that the iShares Silver Trust will cause investors to buy silver – and that this will result in a shortage of silver for users. But the SEC sees no present shortage of silver available for trading. The SEC says in the rule proposal ...

National Animal Identification System

Posted: Sat Feb 04, 2006 8:01 pm
by onepence
As part of its ongoing efforts to safeguard U.S. animal health, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) initiated the implementation of the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) in 2004. The main objective is to develop and implement a comprehensive information system that will support ongoing animal disease monitoring, surveillance, and eradication programs. Additionally, successful advancements of NAIS will enable State and Federal animal health officials to respond rapidly and effectively to animal heath emergencies such as foreign animal disease outbreaks or emerging domestic diseases.

NAIS is currently a voluntary program.

http://animalid.aphis.usda.gov/nais/index.shtml

“Farming is not much fun any more,” are the words we hear from agricultural producers across the nation. While organizations such as the Environmental Working Group are working against agriculture and falsely leading the public to believe government subsidies are making farmers rich, farmers are asking “how can we survive and how much more invasive can the government get?”
The government is already using space-based satellites to measure the crops on every farm in the country and now the United States Department of Agriculture has plans to give an Orwellian touch to owning any type of farm animal. Are we permitting fear to take away another freedom?
Whether you are a large commercial producer or your child has a single horse or chicken for a 4-H project, each animal must be registered with the National Animal Identification System (NAIS) and the premise where the animal is kept is to be identified in a national data base, according to the USDA. Read: Animal ID Rolls Ahead With Premises Registration.
USDA says that 25 percent of the premises are to be registered by April, 2006, and by July every state is to have an Interstate Certificate of Veterinary Inspection system in place. By January 2008, all premises and all animals are to be registered and by July of 2008 movement of all animals will be tracked. If this is not done by January of 2009, the consequences will be severe.

Animals that must be identified with a chip or identification mark will be cattle/bison, sheep, goats, swine, horses, poultry & birds, deer/elk, llamas and alpacas. Animal identification and premise registration is voluntary until 2009. After that date there will be a $1,000 per day fine for noncompliance.
