Re: Poetry Lives!

The following may be of interest to those wishing to see old music notation discoverable and playable online (such as the Greatest Name hymn). I recently came across some music notation (in Star of the West, vol. 1, issue 4, p. 30 with the original page containing the score being in image format at ...

Re: Star of the West/Day of the Covenant/Passing of 'Abdu'l-

Issue 18 http://en.bahaitext.org/Star_of_the_West/Volume_12/Issue_18 ( permanent link ) has now also been added, but the French text (apparently given by a reporter at the time of 'Abdu'l-Baha's funeral), is in rough shape partly because it is hard to read and partly because my French is so limited ...

Star of the West/Day of the Covenant/Passing of 'Abdu'l-Baha

Just an announcement on this Day of the Covenant, and as possible inspiration for the upcoming 92nd anniversary of the Ascension of 'Abdu'l-Baha, that a round of proofreading (though not formatting) has now been completed on Issue 17 of Volume 12 of Star of the West in which is contained details and...

Re: Any recommenadtions or thoughts about birthdays?

I have not seen any. 'Abdu'l-Baha did not wish His birthday remembered as it was on the Declaration of the Bab, and Shoghi Effendi did not wish his birthday remembered (WOB, p. 151 ), though both of these cases could be interpreted (as per context as well) as being due to their wish for their respec...

Re: Which NSA members elected the first House of Justice in

A good number of the Hands of the Cause were still members of National Spiritual Assemblies at the time of the Guardian's death. For example, see "UNANIMOUS PROCLAMATION OF THE 27 HANDS OF THE CAUSE OF GOD" at http://bahai-library.com/uhj_ministry_custodians&chapter=1#28 where many of ...

Great find! Here's the link: http://bahai-library.com/uhj_ministry_c ... pter=7#406 . It is possible though that since this was before the election that there could have been a cancellation or change in plans for someone or other...

Re: Which NSA members elected the first House of Justice in

Thanks, Don. The listing of NSAs as of 1963 is at http://bahai-library.com/handscause_sta ... 1953-63#23 (and is the same list as that you sent--this is public record rather than something sensitive, so I see no issue making mention of it). But again, there are no individual names there.

Re: Which NSA members elected the first House of Justice in

The only attempt I've seen to do this has been at the individual pages linked from http://bahaikipedia.org/Portal:Contents#National_Spiritual_Assemblies . But, taking the U.S. page, as an example, not all of the data seems to be found in the explicit references, so it may be hard to find confirming ...

Re: Baha'i teachings re withholding sex in marriage

Hello njoy, Thanks for your thoughtful comments. Certainly the moral and often most constructive thing to do is to focus on what one can do. But there can also be a need for justice. While you are right that it should of course not be enforced, justice can also come from a recognized authority (in t...
