Actual operating costs for the Baha'i Library are $450/year for hosting two high-capacity servers. As well, I often outsource work to paid assistants (at $10/hour). While volunteer labor has done 90% of the work for the Library, I sometimes find it best to use paid work. Volunteer labor is done with a variety of skills and according to each volunteer's personal style, whereas the paid relationship allows me to require a certain level of quality and implementation of the proper style. Finally, my own personal costs are the paid work I forego to devote the time to the website.
What is a fair amount to donate? Like donating to your local NPR or PBS station, you can think of how much use you've made of the resource that year. Perhaps it's worth an annual magazine subscription, or maybe you've downloaded a book rather than purchasing it in print. Less than 1/10 of 1% of users of the Library donate to it, so please don't hesitate because you think everyone else is covering the costs. :-)
As the Baha'i Library is a personal project not affiliated with the Baha'i administrative order, donations to it are independent of the Baha'i Fund. Please write to , or use the Paypal contribution system below (click on icon).
Thank you for your support.
Sincerely, Jonah Winters
