Abstract Unlike academic historians, Shoghi Effendi and Nabil interpret the events and characters they portray in moralistic terms. This paper explores the heroic motif through a literary framework in the model of Thomas Carlyle's concept of the prophet as hero.
Notes Paper presented at Irfan Colloquia Session #72 (November 2006). See also Bábí Heroism and the Recovery of the Heroic.
